LANCASTER, Ohio (June 1, 2012) – Fairfield Medical Center is proud to announce Dietary Assistant Manager Kathleen Meyer as the 2012 Outstanding Dietetic Educator by the Ohio Dietetic Association.
To qualify for this award, the candidate must demonstrate the following attributes: “innovative teaching skills and techniques, mentoring as documented by letters from students, leadership, community service, and scientific/professional presentations, publications and employment.”
“Kathleen is a hard worker and is dedicated to the student intern program, bringing it to a higher standard,” said FMC Dietary Manager John Belin. “She is patient, knowledgeable and the students respect her along with our staff. We are very proud of her. The selection was made as a result of a nomination submitted by FMC Dietitian Christine Zachrich, M.S., R.D., L.D., C.D.E., and recommendation letters submitted by three former dietetic interns.
One of Kathleen’s former students said she knew Kathleen always wanted to succeed. “Not only does Kathleen strive to be a great mentor to her students, but to the employees she manages as well,” the student said. “Through her leadership, the dietitians and nutrition aides work as a team and encourage each other in accomplishing daily tasks. I was inspired by how diligently the dietitians worked to keep up to date on current research and evidenced-based practices. It was also evident that Kathleen strived to put nutrition in the forefront and make it of importance to other disciplines during numerous changes throughout the hospital.”
Fairfield Medical Center extends very sincere congratulations to Kathleen on this outstanding achievement!
