Fairfield Medical Center is proud to announce the opening of the new TWIG 17 Books & More bookstore. The bookstore is conveniently located at 1151 E. Main Street in Lancaster.
TWIG 17 has been in existence since February 17, 1969 and the members coordinate a used book sale every September. Originally, the annual Books & More sale was located at the Lancaster Campground but it was later moved to the Fairfield County Fairgrounds.
“Having the sale at the Fairgrounds was popular and it was attended by hundreds of people every year,” said Tammy VanScoy, TWIG 17 member. “They came for the low prices, the variety of books and other items. When the work to set up the sale became a hardship to the volunteers, FMC suggested a bookstore.”
TWIG 17 welcomed the opportunity to have a store open year round where it can still offer low prices and a great variety of items. The proceeds from the items purchased from the TWIG 17 Books & More bookstore will go towards purchasing equipment and promoting programs at Fairfield Medical Center. To date, TWIG 17 has donated more than $66,000, including items such as blanket warmers, two Wii systems, NIOX MINO for asthma patients and a media cart to be used at FMC for patients and visitors. TWIG 17 also has donated to the Emergency Department pharmacy fund.
Join us at the TWIG 17 Books & More grand opening event from 4 - 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17 at the new store, located at 1151 E. Main Street. It will be open from 1 - 7 p.m. every Wednesday and Thursday and 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturdays. Items in the store include adult/teen/children books, DVDs, VHS, cassettes, CDs, audiobooks, magazines, puzzles and games. Prices range from 25 cents for magazines to $2 for hardback books. Paperback books are 50 cents. The bookstore only accepts cash payment. Autographed and hard to find items are individually priced. Visit http://twig17books.wix.com/twigbooks# for more information.
Donations will be accepted on Saturdays only. If you have a large book donation, please call ahead to schedule volunteers who are able to lift boxes. Items must be in good condition. The store does not accept encyclopedias or textbooks.
