Comprehensive Cancer Care Program
Fairfield Medical Center offers an accredited, comprehensive cancer care program in which board-certified medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, highly trained surgeons and other cancer care team members work together to provide a tailored treatment plan for each patient. Fairfield Medical Center’s cancer care program offers various cancer treatment types to patients, including chemotherapy, radiation and surgery.
Accredited by the American College of Surgeon’s Commission on Cancer, the cancer care program is designed to simplify the cancer treatment process for patients. Dedicated oncology nurse navigators are available to provide compassionate coordination of all aspects of cancer care to ease the journey for patients and their families.
Fairfield Medical Center’s cancer care program maintains accreditation by setting high standards of competency. The cancer committee, a multidisciplinary team, meets weekly at a Cancer Care Conference where physicians discuss and plan best treatment options for each patient.
Pertinent to successful current and future patient treatment is the Cancer Registry. Established in 1986, the Cancer Registry collects demographic information, cancer identification, treatment and follow-up data on each eligible cancer patient at Fairfield Medical Center. This data contributes to treatment, planning, staging and continuity of patient care. To date, more than 8,000 patients are included in the Cancer Registry database.
Fairfield Medical Center knows how important it is for patients of the cancer care program to feel comfortable and secure in their decision to receive treatment at Fairfield Medical Center’s cancer care department. Compassionate staff, state-of-the-art medical equipment, high-quality assurance standards, advanced technology, unparalleled care and education are components of Fairfield Medical Center’s cancer care program.
Having a comprehensive cancer care program means that each cancer patient receives specialized care and has necessary resources readily available to them. Fairfield Medical Center also has the Cancer Resource Center, which offers support, educational classes and retail items specifically for cancer patients.
