Ohio Grassroots Champion for Advocacy
Mina Ubbing, Fairfield Medical Center CEO, received the Ohio Grassroots Champion for Advocacy Award in 2009 from the American Hospital Association.

Ewing Square Specialty Services Infusion Clinic Recognized
Ewing Square Specialty Services Infusion Clinic was named second in the region in 2009 for its effective administration of Reclast – an annual intravenous (IV) dose that helps strengthen bones and helps to protect bones from fracture.

One of the Best Employers for Workers Over 50
FMC was named to AARP’s list of the Best Employers for Workers Over 50 in 2007. Because employees are interviewed as part of the award process, this honor is even more rewarding.

An American Heart Association Start! Fit Friendly Company
FMC received this award in 2009 because of our commitment to helping our employees achieve better health in the workplace.

American Safety and Health Institute’s No.1 CPR training facility
In 2007, the American Safety and Health Institute recognized FMC as the top CPR training facility in the county among more than 5,000 training centers in the country.

An Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program (OSHIIP) Site
FMC received approval as an Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program (OSHIIP) Site in 2009. This program helps guide individuals through the medical insurance paperwork process.

Solutions for Patient Care Initiative
In 2009, Cardinal Health awarded FMC grant money as part of an initiative to implement specific programs to reduce health-care-associated infections and medication errors.

Ohio Hospital Healthcare Hero Award.Steve Anderson, Fairfield Medical Center Police Officer, was nominated as a recipient.(June, 2009)

2008 Outstanding Specialty Award
Dr. Scott Johnson was named the recipient of this award from the Centers of Osteopathic Research and Education (CORE) because of his dedication to his students. One student was quoted as saying, “His love of teaching, his enthusiasm for his work and his genuine compassion for his patients and students create an atmosphere in which students can thrive.”

Columbus Society of Plastic Surgeons President
In 2009, Dr. Jason Lichten, MD, was elected President of the Columbus Society of Plastic Surgeons. This organization is the largest organization of board-certified plastic surgeons in Central Ohio.

Patient Safety Leadership Fellows
Joan Miller, MT, ASCP, MHSA, FMC Six Sigma Black Belt, was selected into the 2009-2010 class of Patient Safety Leadership Fellows. This is a yearlong, intensive-learning experience dedicated to preparing the next generation of health-care leaders.

Fellows of American College of Surgeons
FMC surgeon Dr. Jose Norberto MD, FACS, was initiated into the worldwide organization Fellows of American College of Surgeons (ACS) in 2009.

Gordon B. Snider Physician Teammate of the Year
Dr John Abidin was named Teammate of the Year in 2010. He has been practicing medicine at FMC for 15 years as an internal medicine physician and was nominated and selected for this annual award by FMC staff.

Society of Critical Care Medicine Award
For the third time, Dr. Christopher Ryckman was awarded by SCCM. In 2009 he received a 10-year certification. SSMC is the only professional organization devoted exclusively to the advancement of multi-professional intensive care through excellence in patient care, education, research and advocacy.

Excellence in Laboratory Medicine Award
Greg Witham, MS, MT (ASCP) SBB, specialty lab supervisor, received this award in the area of education, because of his extraordinary motivation and energy in pursuing and delivering educational excellence in clinical-lab science in 2009.

2010 SERVICE AWARDS

Community Service Award -  Brenda Daubenmire, Mammographer

This award recognizes an employee who supports the health of the community.  An employee who volunteers their personal time to partner with other agencies or support groups to improve community health.  This cannot be a function of the employee’s job at the Center, but is something above and beyond what  they contribute to their community.

Leadership Teammate of the Year Award - Kim Anderson, 5th Med./Surg. & Hemodialysis Manager

Demonstrates excellence in leadership and is a person people look up to for support and guidance on a daily basis. This award recognizes an employee that goes above and beyond and is constantly dedicated to Fairfield Medical Center's mission and values.

Legendary Service Award - Shelley McIntosh, Adiminstrative Assistant

An employee who makes a significant difference in customer service.  An employee who is frequently mentioned in surveys or receives outstanding evaluations from their supervisor and peers for customer service.

President’s Award - Melony Rarick, Learning & Development Education Associate

Recognition of an individual for a single act that demonstrates the mission of Fairfield Medical Center.

Professional Excellence Award - Etta Heizman, Six Sigma Department

Recognition of an individual demonstrating professionalism and excellence on a daily basis.
