LANCASTER, Ohio (March 27, 2013) – Fairfield Medical Center is hosting Diabetes Health Education for members of the community on April 10 from 6 – 6:45 p.m. The seminar titled “Understanding Diabetes,” will be held at the Buckeye Lake Library Meeting Room, 4455 Walnut Road, Route 79, Buckeye Lake, OH 43008.
FMC Diabetes Educator Stephanie Van Horn, R.N., C.D.E., will present regarding a general overview of diabetes and its affect on the body. “Diabetes is very common and this presentation will focus on ways people can cope once diagnosed,” Van Horn said. “I am looking forward to presenting that evening because education is crucial to combat this illness.”
According to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, diabetes can cause serious health complications including heart disease, blindness, kidney failure and lower-extremity amputations. Diabetes is the seventh leading cause of death in the United States.
