Dr. Stephanie Ott Wins Preceptor of the Year Award
LANCASTER, Ohio (May 13, 2013) – Dr. Stephanie Ott, a Rheumatologist with Fairfield Medical Center (FMC) and an instructor at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-HCOM), was recently chosen by her students as one of OU-HCOM’s Preceptors of the Year.
The Preceptor of the Year Award is one of OU-HCOM’s Distinguished Osteopathic Commitment awards. The awards honor some of OU-HCOM’s most dedicated and accomplished members and are selected by a committee of first and second-year students. This is the second time that Dr. Ott has received this prestigious award.
Award winners were honored at the award banquet that took place on April 24 in Baker Center on the Ohio University Campus. The event was complete with dinner and a presentation of all award winners.
Dr. Ott has been a clinical instructor with OU-HCOM for six years and last year was promoted to a clinical associate professor. She has been with FMC since July 2007. In May 2001, she completed her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of New Mexico (UNM) and went on to complete her Internal Medicine residency at UNM, followed by a fellowship in rheumatology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. She is board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology and is a certified clinical densitometrist which means she is certified to read bone density scans.
In addition to her contributions to FMC and OU she has been the president of the Ohio Association of Rheumatology for the past two years. Her appointment to this position made her the first female president within the organization. When she is not practicing medicine, Dr. Ott is spending time practicing the arts as she possesses the knowledge to play six different instruments. Other hobbies include reading, hiking and gardening.
Dr. Ott and her Certified Nurse Practitioner, Robin Sheets are part of Fairfield Healthcare Professionals (FHP), an affiliate of Fairfield Medical Center.
