HeartMath®

HeartMath® is a program designed to teach individuals how to handle stress by managing their reactions to stressful situations, in turn allowing them to lead healthier and more productive lifestyles at home and at work.

The basis of HeartMath® is heart rate variability. Increased heart rate variability is a result of stress, or occurs in response to stressful situations. The greater the variability of your heart rate, the more disordered the message is that is sent to your brain, and the more unclear your thoughts are.

When stress is constant, your body is constantly producing cortisol and other stress hormones. This disrupts the body’s processes, putting you at higher risk of developing heart disease, obesity, diabetes, cancer, hypertension, memory problems, depression and sleep problems. According to the American Institute of Stress, 90 percent of all illnesses are stress-related.

HeartMath® provides the tools necessary to eliminate stress so that people can operate more efficiently in their lives, both at home and in the workplace. People can’t control every situation, but they can control how they react to them.

Who Are We?

A proactive approach in health care is essential. Fairfield Medical Center is teaming up with local employers to provide the Fairfield Medical Center Corporate Wellness Program. By teaching employees the value of living a healthier lifestyle, both the employees and the company benefit!

What We Do?

The Corporate Wellness Program provides a variety of offerings to encourage your employees to lead a healthier lifestyle, as well as convenient on-site health screenings. Our educational opportunities are part of the Corporate Wellness package and can either be offered at your business or at Fairfield Medical Center. We prepare topics that are pertinent to your employees’ needs as identified by the health risk assessments.

Fairfield Medical Center’s Corporate Wellness Program also provides on-site health fairs offering information about stroke, cancer, nutrition, exercise, heart disease and much more for community employers.

How are Health Screenings Performed?

Our wellness team will visit your facility to perform a comprehensive health screening to employees. This includes obtaining a blood sample to check cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood sugar levels for each participant.

Body measurements, including height, weight, body mass index, and blood pressure will also be obtained. Each employee completes a health questionnaire during the visit that asks about lifestyle, personal history, and current health practices.

An aggregate report is generated from the information collected, and a follow-up visit is scheduled approximately two to four weeks after the initial visit to review the report in a group session.

While individual assessment results will not be disclosed to the group, one of our wellness specialists will provide a general information session to the group based off of collective group results. Gender-specific risk factors associated with lab and body measurement results will be thoroughly discussed while keeping individual results private.

A health risk assessment prior to an annual physical allows your employees to discuss their risk factors with their physicians.

Is There A Fee?

We will provide a proposal of services to your company’s administrative staff. Many corporate insurance agencies give premium discounts to companies that offer wellness programs to their employees.
