Cancer Resource Center
The Fairfield Medical Cancer Resource Center is open to any cancer patient and their support people. Educational classes, support services and retail products are offered to reduce stress and ease recovery and coping processes. The center is staffed Monday through Friday (or by appointment) by a Fairfield Medical Center coordinator and volunteers, many of whom are cancer survivors.
Retail products offered at the Cancer Resource Center are products that have been recommended by cancer patients who have experienced similar physical and cosmetic changes as a result of cancer. Some of these products for children and adults include: hats, headscarves, wigs, queasy pops and Remedy Skin Repair Cream and other products designed to help manage the side effects of cancer treatment. The Cancer Resource Center is the designated Wig Bank of Fairfield County, and offers new wigs to cancer patients free of charge. If there is a product needed that is not readily available, please notify a member of the Cancer Resource Center team for assistance in locating items for you.
Classes such as yoga, exercise/stretching, pet therapy and journaling are also offered for cancer patients and their support persons. Designated rooms are available for support group meetings. Grief counseling and pastoral services are available upon request. Educational material and onsite computers provide access to credible websites and other organizations approved by the American Cancer Society. We also offer referrals to resources for information on nutrition, massage, financial issues, energy conservation, adaptive equipment use and work simplification.
We sincerely want to be a part of your physical, mental and emotional well-being. We are here for every phase of your or your loved one’s journey – from diagnosis and treatment to aftercare. Please stop in and introduce yourself. The Cancer Resource Center is for everyone.
