Continued Care

It is important that your care continues after you are discharged. You will receive a follow-up call from one of our certified orthopedic nurses within 72 hours of being discharged. If you have questions or concerns prior to receiving your follow-up call, you can call the Orthopedic Unit at all times, 24 hours a day. You will always have direct access to certified staff who can answer your questions. You are still our patient, even after you leave the hospital and it is our duty to provide you with unceasing quality service.

We understand the importance of having highly trained and certified physicians and nurses, and believe in a continuum of care. We partner with other healthcare facilities in our community to assist in providing orthopedic nursing certification to their staff as well.

Patient Education Class

The orthopedic staff is dedicated to you and your pre-operative needs. Total joint replacement patients are offered a thorough education class at no cost. The class will give you a better understanding of what to expect, before, during and after surgery. It is important that you attend one of these classes. The class is held every other Tuesday at the Outpatient Rehabilitation Facility also located in the Kroger shopping center.

Aside from the educational class, this all-inclusive day is reserved to meet your individual needs. We offer all preoperative testing services necessary to ensure you are ready for your scheduled surgery. All necessary testing is offered the same day as the educational class. The day is customized to complete each patient’s individual pre-operative requirements. Tests offered include, but are not limited to, blood work, chest X-rays and EKGs. If you do not have a referring physician, we can provide one for you to ensure you are cleared for surgery. Testing is done at Fairfield Medical Diagnostic Services, located at 1159 E. Main St. in Lancaster, in the Kroger shopping center.
