Tobacco Cessation Program

No ifs, ands, or BUTTS...Quitters Always Win!

The Tobacco Cessation Program at Fairfield Medical Center is designed to help tobacco users kick the habit. Participants learn the risks of smoking cigarettes, using smokeless tobacco, and smoking e-cigarettes (vaping), as well as the benefits of quitting for self and others. Support and counseling will be used to assist participants in developing a comprehensive plan to stop tobacco use.

This six week program covers:

  • Pharmacotherapy
  • Family support/choosing allies
  • Learning from past attempts to quit
  • Medications including nicotine replacement
  • Methods of quitting
  • Tips for managing withdrawal
  • Identifying triggers
  • Developing substitutions or distractions
  • Track progress through program journal

Quitting smoking can reduce your risk:

  • Heart Disease
  • Cancer
  • Pulmonary diseases such as emphysema
  • Stroke
Participants will learn
  • A positive approach to becoming a non-tobacco user
  • Motivational exercises and techniques for stress management
  • Medications including Nicotine replacement
  • Strategies to recover from tobacco addiction
  • The barriers to tobacco cessation
  • The health benefits of choosing a tobacco-free lifestyle

This program is covered by most insurances, including Medicare & Medicaid. Provider referral is recommended.
