The 15th Annual Heart & Lung Run – August 17FMC Heart & Lung Run

190 people participated in the 2023 Heart & Lung Run and more than $21,000 was raised for the Cardiovascular Fund. In addition, The Ed Readman Award was presented to Ron Brame, who is a graduate of cardiopulmonary rehab at FMC. Ron is a dedicated participant in the Heart & Lung Run and enjoys every opportunity to connect with his care team.

“We never want patients to have to make a choice between their health and their finances. Their job is to concentrate on getting healthy, not to worry about whether or not they can afford to get healthy.”

– Stephanie Young, FMC Cardio Fitness Supervisor

  • Team Registration – Grow Your Give

Starting or joining a Heart & Lung Run Team is a great way to give even more support. As a team, you can choose to raise additional funds and invite your friends, family, neighbors and friends of friends to join your team. The team with the most fundraising dollars (team entry fees + donations) will get to choose a participant to sound the horn at the start of the race. Teams will also be featured on our FMC Foundation event website and on social media.

Teams are also encouraged to stand out from the other race participants. Start planning now! Remember that you will already be receiving shirts with early sign-ups. Other ideas for team wear include adding: hats, tutus, ribbons, buttons, fun socks, leis, etc. Get creative and have fun! Team pictures will be taken the morning of the race.

Fairfield Medical Center does not endorse vendors.

How to Start or Join a Team:

The person who starts a team will be that team’s captain. Captains will be responsible for managing the team’s roster, communication regarding team activities (fundraising, dress day of event, etc.), picking up and distributing packets for team members, meeting locations and organizing team signage on the morning of the race. Captains can manager their team roster through their account on Run Signup.

To join a team, you will need the name of your captain and the team you are joining.

Supporting Healing and Health Tim's Story

Tim GrahamTim Graham, then 61, will be the first to tell you that he’s no stranger to miracles. He is a cancer survivor and, in November 2018, he became the proud and humbled recipient of the ultimate gift: a new heart.

Months later, he received another life-changing gift – the opportunity to participate in 12 weeks of cardiac rehabilitation, with minimal expense, through the Heart & Lung Fund at Fairfield Medical Center.

“I’m very thankful for this program and the Heart & Lung Fund,” said Tim, who attended cardiac rehabilitation three times a week. “It’s amazing the amount of people FMC helps.”
