American Heart Association: 2019 Get with the Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus Award
These hospitals are recognized for two or more consecutive calendar years of 85% or higher adherence on all achievement measures applicable and 75% or higher adherence with additional select quality measures in heart failure, stroke and/or resuscitation.

American Heart Association Certification of Distinction for Primary Stroke Centers
The Certificate of Distinction for Primary Stroke Centers recognizes centers that follow the best practices for stroke care. Programs applying for advanced certification must meet the requirements for Disease-Specific Care Certification plus additional, clinically specific requirements and expectations.
Commission on Cancer Accredited Program
Fairfield Medical Center’s Cancer Center received accreditation with commendation from the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer.
Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care Heart Failure and Chest Pain Center
Fairfield Medical Center has been recognized by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care for our commitment to leading the fight to eliminate heart disease.
American College of Cardiology
The award recognizes Fairfield Medical Center as having maintained a high level of care for ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) patients. The registry is a partnership between the American College of Cardiology Foundation and American Heart Association that is also supported by the American College of Emergency Physicians, Society of Chest Pain Centers and Society of Hospital Medicine. ACTION Registry—GWTG empowers health care provider teams to consistently treat heart attack patients according to the most current, science-based guidelines.
American Diabetes Association
Fairfield Medical Center Diabetes Self-Management Program recently was awarded the prestigious American Diabetes Association Education Recognition Certificate, for the second time in a row, for a quality diabetes self-management education program. The certification is given every five years.
Programs that achieve recognition status have a staff of knowledgeable health professionals who can provide participants with comprehensive information about diabetes management.

The General Surgery Excellence Award™ recognizes hospitals for superior outcomes in bowel obstruction treatment, colorectal surgeries, gallbladder removal, esophageal/stomach surgeries, and small intestine surgeries. Patients who have these procedures at these nationally recognized hospitals have a lower risk of dying or experiencing a complication during their hospital stay.
The Joint Replacement Excellence Award™
The Joint Replacement Excellence Award™ recognizes hospitals for superior outcomes in knee and hip replacement. Patients who have these surgeries at these nationally recognized hospitals have a lower risk of experiencing a complication during their hospital stay.
The Vascular Surgery Excellence Award™
The Vascular Surgery Excellence Award™ recognizes hospitals for superior outcomes in abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, carotid surgery, and peripheral vascular bypass surgery. Patients who have these procedures at these nationally recognized hospitals have a lower risk of experiencing a complication during their hospital stay.
The Women’s Health Excellence Award™
The Women’s Health Excellence Award™ recognizes hospitals for superior outcomes in care provided to women across 15 common in-hospital conditions and procedures. Women who receive care for these conditions and procedures at a hospital recognized with a Women’s Health Excellence Award have, on average, a lower risk of mortality and complications.
American Academy of Sleep Medicine Accredited Facility
To become accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, sleep centers must comply with the AASM Standards for Accreditation, the gold standard for patient care in the sleep field. These requirements incorporate the latest diagnostic and treatment advances, and the standards ensure that sleep centers provide high quality, patient-centered care.
Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation
Fairfield Medical Center is one of a handful of hospitals in Ohio to achieve a Level III Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation (GEDA) honor. To receive this designation, an emergency department is required to meet geriatric-specific initiatives that are reasonably expected to elevate the level of elder care.
