FMC Sports Medicine Therapy RehabSports-Specific Rehabilitation

Athletes are highly driven and goal-oriented people. We will be there to help you reach your goals and get you back on the playing field quickly and safely.

What is sports-specific rehabilitation?

Whether you’re a weekend warrior or a high level athlete, the last thing you want is to be sidelined by an injury. Sports-specific rehabilitation is much like traditional physical therapy, but with an emphasis on exercises that mirror required movements of the sport. We will custom design a rehabilitation program for you based on your sport, your fitness level and your goals. Treatment may include hands-on manual therapy, various modalities and the most current sport-specific exercise instruction.

If you are on a team, your therapy may require the collaboration of the team physician, the athletic trainer and your physical therapist. If you are an individual competing in recreational athletics, you will be teamed up with a physical therapist at Outpatient Therapy Services/Sports Clinic. These therapists have a thorough understanding of the etiology and pathology of musculoskeletal injuries, as well as the various phases of healing, and will collaborate with your orthopedist or other sports medicine physician about your return to activity. Our staff also includes certified strength and conditioning coaches.
