When a heart attack strikes, receiving fast, lifesaving care is critical – and Fairfield Medical Center knows that every second counts.
We work extensively with surrounding EMS services and neighboring hospitals to ensure emergency cardiac patients are quickly evaluated, transported and treated – and we are proud to have been recognized by the American Heart Association for meeting and exceeding the speed of treatment standards.
For patients arriving by EMS with a very serious type of heart attack called an ST-elevated heart attack (or STEMI), treatment protocols are initiated during transport to the hospital, and our STEMI team is alerted and ready to immediately take patients to the Cardiac Catheterization Lab for lifesaving treatment. Our door-to-intervention time for STEMI patients is consistently below the national average: the faster you can receive care, the better the outcome. Our collaborative efforts with the outstanding first responders and surrounding medical facilities in the region are driven by our desire for positive patient experiences.
If you believe you are having a heart attack, call 9-1-1 immediately.
Do not drive yourself or a family member to the hospital.
