Welcome from the Director of Medical Education

Thank you for exploring Graduate Medical Education at Fairfield Medical Center. We in the GME office are excited to share with you the opportunities for resident and student learning that we believe have the potential to provide a rich exposure to community-focused healthcare. Currently FMC offers residency training in both family and internal medicine as well as a multitude of student rotations in general and specialist patient care.

We believe that training at FMC offers “the best of both worlds” by exposing residents and students to the breadth of pathology larger training programs often afford, along with the hands-on experience that rural rotations often afford. This is because FMC is located in proximity to both metropolitan Columbus and rural Appalachian southeast Ohio.

Our programs maintain a close relationship with Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and we continue to emphasize osteopathic principles and practice in training. We believe that training at Fairfield Medical Center, by physicians committed to engaged collegial dialogue, as well as professional accountability, yields a practice-ready physician who not only meets competencies, but defines them. We look forward to hearing from you to explore further.

Sincerely, Mark Darnell, MD
Designated Institutional Official, Chief Medical Officer

The mission of Fairfield Medical Center through the effort of Graduate Medical Education is to provide an academically and professionally nurturing clinical learning environment wherein competent, compassionate, board-certified physicians are trained with the skill to affect healing according to current evidence.
