The Trimmer family with Dr. SahaIn times of darkness and discouragement, there was light and hope. That’s how Baltimore resident Cathy Trimmer describes the care her late husband, Dan Trimmer, received from Dr. Roopa Saha and the Cancer Care and Infusion staff during his two-year battle with metastatic prostate cancer. On Monday, July 10, Cathy spoke at Fairfield Medical Center during a special ceremony to honor her husband’s memory and thank the FMC team for the care they provided to her husband. Cathy and her daughter, Devon Meyers, made a financial gift to the Cancer Care & Infusion Center in memory of Dan, whose name is now memorialized on the wall in the FHP Hematology and Oncology office. Cathy said she will always remember the care and respect that Dr. Saha and her team showed to Dan, particularly toward the end of his life. “The last time Dan got a cancer treatment here, he couldn’t walk; the nurse carried him out to the car,” Cathy said. “I hope the donation from Devon and I will permit you to continue to give light and hope to other cancer patients.”

Unveiling of Dan Trimmer MemorialChad Stoltz, director of Cancer Services, said the donation from the Trimmer family was a humbling and appreciative gesture. “It is confirming of the amazing care that is provided by our staff here at FMC, their dedication to the patients and their families, and their ability to build strong relationships,” he said. “It is the building of these relationships that sets us apart, making the patient feel like family when they walk through our doors. That is the experience that not only the Trimmer family received, but one that each person experiences when they walk through the doors of Cancer Care and Infusion.”
