A NEW Linear Accelerator Expanding Treatment Options for Cancer Services

linear acceleratorIn 2020, Fairfield Medical Center will focus efforts on raising money to change our cancer patients’ lives through the purchase of a linear accelerator.

What is a linear accelerator?

An advanced radiation technology that offers an opportunity to expand the options available to our patients. Cancer patients will endure fewer treatments, as they will be given a higher dose of radiation during treatments and reduce the time of those treatments. The linear accelerator allows physicians to provide more accurate treatment, while causing less damage to
healthy tissue.

Offering this type of cancer treatment in our service area will dramatically change the lives of those fighting cancer in our own community. Your FMC Foundation has pledged $720,000 to the purchase price of this advance technology.

Linear Accelerator Benefits:

  • Reduces treatment times
  • Decreases the number of treatments
  • Lessens damage to healthy tissue
  • Treats a wide variety of cancer types

Together, we can make this technology a reality for our community.
