Common Surgical Procedures

Commonly performed heart and lung procedures at Fairfield Medical Center include:

Coronary Bypass Surgery (also called Bypass Surgery, CABG or open-heart surgery)
This procedure uses blood vessels from other parts of the body (usually a leg) to go around or bypass one or more blocked arteries in the heart to restore blood flow.
Heart Valve Repair or Replacement Surgery
Diseased or damaged valves in the heart are repaired or replaced during valve surgery. The most common valve surgeries are for aortic and mitral valves.
