How long have you been with Fairfield Medical Center?

What positions do you recruit for FMC?
I recruit for a combination of multiple positions, mostly in specialty areas at the hospital, such as our emergency departments, surgery, endoscopy, laboratory, respiratory therapy, cardiovascular, wound therapy, cardiac and medical observation, physical and occupational therapy, maternity and pharmacy.

What do you like most about your job?
I love hiring talented team members and making a difference in someone’s life by offering them a job at Fairfield Medical Center. I love partnering with our leadership team to figure out recruitment strategies for the organization while remaining competitive with other organizations. I also love being able to make personal connections and relationships with new team members in the recruitment and onboarding experience. I believe creating a personal connection with an applicant from the very beginning is what sets us apart from our competitors. In fact, candidates who applied at other organizations have told me that the personal connection I established with them as a recruiter is part of what led them to accept our offer.

Why should someone come to work for FMC?
Our culture is like a close-knit family. We are considered a regional health system, yet we are continuing to grow, so even though we have our close family that we work beside every day, we are also able to impact patients on a scale that is comparable to larger health systems.

What do you like to do outside of work?
I am a country girl who drives from Morgan County, which is about 45 minutes away. However, I do not mind the drive because I love the people that I work with every day. I feel like I’m coming “home” when I drive into work, which is a great feeling! My husband, Wesley Harden, and I built a house on 30 acres in Malta, and we love living in our peaceful paradise. Wes is in the Army National Guard and has been active service for 17.5 years. He is a 1st Sergeant in the Air Defense Artillery (ADA) 2-174 of Charlie Battery in McConnelsville and has been on two overseas deployments.

I went to Ohio University, where I received a bachelor’s degree in hearing speech and language health sciences. I also have a master’s degree in human resource management from DeVry University. I absolutely love the Bobcats (“OU, Oh Yeah!”) and enjoy working in healthcare in the field of human resources! In my spare time, I enjoy running, lifting, and working out, gardening, and spending time with family/friends. Life is short, live it up! One of my favorite quotes is, “Choose Joy! Don’t wait for things to get easier, simpler, better. Life will always be complicated. Learn to be happy right now, otherwise you will run out of time. We can’t often choose our circumstances, but we can better control our reactions and emotions. Choose Joy.”

How long have you been with Fairfield Medical Center?
I am what we call a boomerang; I left, but came back! Altogether, I’ve been with FMC over 20 years.

What positions do you recruit for FMC?
I hire for our inpatient care areas and Imaging, specifically Nursing Assistants, RNs, Team Leader IVs, Unit Clerks, Radiographers, CT Tech’s, Ultrasound Techs and any leadership positions for those areas.

What do you like most about your job?
I love meeting new people, connecting their strengths with the right job and telling them how great our FMC team is. As a recruiter we can share pay and benefit information, explain the job and describe our culture, but it is up to our FMC teammates to allow the candidate to experience that culture firsthand. Time and time again, it is our teammates who help us succeed at hiring candidates. What I love most about working with employees is meeting with them to go over their strengths and goals, and helping them connect all of that to a new role in the organization!

Why should someone come to work for FMC?
For me it’s simple: Our culture. I work at a place where I matter. Not just to my leader, but to my FMC family. We can all make a difference. It is encouraged and celebrated, no matter what our job title is.

What do you like to do outside of work?
I have been married to my high school sweetheart for almost 30 years. We have three children and two grandchildren. We are all graduates of Lancaster High School (except the grandbabies). We have two “OU, Oh Yeah” graduates, with our youngest child halfway there. We are blessed to have all of our kiddos live close by; in our downtime, you will find us playing with our grandbabies and hanging out with our children. My mom taught me to not worry about the material things, but to make memories instead.  She was so right! So I live by this quote: Collect memories and not things. It hasn’t disappointed me yet.

What positions do you recruit for FMC?

I mostly hire for entry level positions, such as dietary attendant, environmental services attendant, transport attendant, linen attendant, etc. I also hire for positions in all of the Fairfield Healthcare Professionals offices, which include patient registrars, medical assistants, and ambulatory LPNs and RNs. Other departments that I hire for are Learning and Development, IT, Decision Support, Compliance, Case Management, Marketing, Human Resources, Accounting, Plant Engineering, and many more.

What do you like most about your job?
I like meeting new people and going out in the community to promote FMC. I’ve gained so many new relationships from being in this position. I love helping others find their career paths. It seems like I’m always learning something new.

Why should someone come to work for FMC?
Our culture. I love being in a smaller hospital and having that “family” feeling. At FMC, you are not just another employee, you are family, and you have a purpose for being here. There are also many opportunities for growth within the organization.

What do you like to do outside of work?
I recently married in the fall of 2022 and my husband and I are in the process of building a new house. We have 17 chickens, and I hope to get more farm animals once we move. I love to travel and visit the beach!
