COVID-19 Vaccine Information

With several COVID-19 vaccines recently authorized by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), information about vaccine distribution and availability is evolving daily. Currently, the vaccine is available in limited supply for critical populations and FMC is only vaccinating healthcare providers at this time. As supply increases in Ohio, please look for updates to learn more about how Fairfield Medical Center will distribute FDA authorized COVID-19 vaccinations.

Safety Protocols

Safety is our top priority. Please do not delay or avoid seeking the medical attention you need: our staff is here to care for you. In addition to following the guidelines set forth by the leading global and national healthcare professionals, Fairfield Medical Center has implemented a number of policies at all of our facilities to mitigate risk and prevent the spread of infections:

  • Limited entry points
  • Screening for everyone entering our facilities
  • Separate treatment areas to care for COVID-19 patients
  • Limited visitation
  • Telehealth visits
  • Intensified cleaning of surfaces

Current Visitation Restrictions

Visitation Policy: Fairfield Medical Center has been actively monitoring and responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a patient-centered hospital, we must do everything we can to prevent the spread of this disease and protect our patients, staff and visitors. Please know visitation restrictions can change based on the prevalence of COVID-19 in our community. Effective Sept. 1, one visitor per patient is permitted at Fairfield Medical Center main campus location and outpatient clinics are permitting limited visitation during patient appointments. Required Mask Usage: Effective April 29, all visitors and staff are required to wear a face covering or mask while at a Fairfield Medical Center facility. Please bring your own face mask or covering to wear during your next visit. Additional information regarding this announcement may be found here.

Temperature Screenings: Everyone entering a Fairfield Medical Center facility will have their temperature checked upon arrival.

COVID-19 Call Center

Fairfield Medical Center’s COVID-19 call center is available to answer the community’s questions regarding coronavirus protection, preparation and precautions. The call center is staffed with medical professionals in order to provide accurate, up-to-date information, and can be reached 24/7 by calling 740-687-8818.

FMC Outpatient Laboratories & Diagnostic Locations: Fairfield Medical Diagnostic and Laboratory Services at main campus 401 N. Ewing St. is temporarily closed. All outpatient diagnostic and laboratory services are to be directed to 1159 N. Main Street or River Valley Campus at 2384 N. Memorial Drive in Lancaster.

FMC Business Office is no longer accepting walk-ins: If you are dropping off a payment or HCAP application, please place them in the FMC Business Office white lock box located at the curb in front of the offices next door. You may still access our online payment system by clicking here or mail your payment/application to us through USPS. If you wish to speak to a Customer Service Representative, please call 740-687-8025 between the hours of 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

COVID-19 Testing What you need to know

If you are scheduled for an elective surgery or procedure at Fairfield Medical Center, you will be required to have a COVID-19 screening test prior to your procedure. You are being tested for the safety of our patients, staff and community. Recommendations for Employers

As businesses across the region begin to screen employees for symptoms of COVID-19 before the start of the work day, most notably through temperature checks, Fairfield Medical Center infectious disease physician Dr. Andrew Dagg-Murry wants to prepare the community and employers for what should happen next.

“If someone has a fever, do not send them to the emergency department or urgent care,” Dr. Dagg-Murry said. Instead, individuals should be instructed to go home and self-isolate. From that point, they should monitor symptoms closely and seek medical attention if their condition worsens or becomes severe. “And always call ahead before arriving,” the doctor reminded.

For the vast majority of individuals, COVID-19 will cause mild to moderate symptoms before resolving and may not require testing. “Employees should be without symptoms for a week, and fever free – without the use of medication – for three consecutive days before returning to work,” said Dr. Dagg-Murry. Upon returning to work, employees should wear a standard isolation mask for 7 days.
