The Cancer Resource Center provides free services, programs and support for you and your family when you need it most. Our wide variety of valuable resources serves the goal of meeting your needs through your cancer treatment process and into survivorship.

Financial Support

There are a variety of financial resources available to those who qualify, including the Fairfield Medical Center Foundation and TWIG 1 Cancer Care Fund. Members of your oncology team will work collaboratively with financial aid personnel to determine what individualized assistance is available to you.

    American Cancer Society’s “Road To Recovery”

    The American Cancer Society Road To Recovery program provides transportation to and from treatment for people with cancer who do not have a ride or are unable to drive themselves. For more information, visit cancer.org.


    Cancer Support Community

    The Cancer Support Community (CSC) is dedicated to ensuring that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action, and sustained by community.     Perry County Cancer Alliance

    Open to all cancer patients, family members and friends, this group offers support, knowledge and coping skills. Learn more here.

    The Cord Blood Center

    Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine Women’s Mobile Health Unit

    The Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine with the support of Susan G. Komen® Columbus and the Breast and Cervical Cancer Projects of Southeast Ohio provides free women’s health services and education. Services are offered at Heritage Community Clinic in Athens and on the Mobile Health Unit that travels throughout Southeastern Ohio. Our goal is to decrease late breast cancer diagnosis rates by offering free health screenings, vouchers for mammograms to qualifying women and referrals as needed.     Susan G. Komen® Columbus

  • Lung Cancer Screening

    Doctors have found that screening for lung cancer in people at high risk of the disease can help to detect lung cancer early, which improves the chances of successful treatment. Our guidelines for screening are based on the National Lung Screening Trial sponsored by the National Cancer Institute. A low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) screening is recommended for:

    • Men or women age 50-80 
    • Current or former smoker who has quit smoking within the last 15 years
    • Smoked at least one pack per day for 20 years OR 2 packs per day for 10 years 

    You will need to have a physician order for a low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) screening. To learn more about screening for lung cancer, or if you feel you are a candidate for a screening, please talk to your healthcare provider or call 740-689-6889.

    Radon Education and Licensing Program

    The Radon Education and Licensing Program is a federally funded program under the Ohio Department of Health and work in cooperation with the U.S. Environment Protection Agency (US EPA) and a network of local health departments across Ohio. This program provides public radon education, as well as low cost radon test kits to Ohio residents. Click here to learn more.

  • Fight Colorectal Cancer

    Colon Cancer Alliance

    Offers support and information for fighters, survivors, caregivers, and others touched by colorectal cancer (CRC), a Buddy Program that matches people for one-on-one support, an online support program called My CCA Support, where those affected by CRC can connect with others, and more.
