How is Hand and Wrist Pain Treated?
- Our orthopedic providers may suggest imaging tests, such as x-rays, CT scan, ultrasound or MRI, to better assess your symptoms.
- Your provider may also perform an arthroscopy (scope) to evaluate your condition. During this procedure, a small incision is made on your wrist and a small camera is inserted. This will help pinpoint problem areas and offers the opportunity to repair the damage.
- If carpal tunnel syndrome is a potential source for your pain, your provider may order a needle electromyogram (EMG) test. During this nerve test, a small, thin needle is placed in several muscles near your wrist. This will assess the electrical discharges produced in your muscles and determine whether they are slowed in the region of the carpal tunnel. Learn more about EMG tests and how to prepare here.
