Congratulations to FMC’s Heartburn Center for performing 100 LINX® procedures. The 100th procedure was performed on May 20th by Jeffrey Yenchar, M.D., medical director of the Heartburn Center.
The LINX® System consists of a small flexible band of interlinked titanium beads with magnetic cores that is placed laparoscopically around the esophagus just above the stomach. This procedure restores the body’s natural barrier to reflux and can help eliminate the symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
“Reaching the 100 LINX® milestone shows the LINX® device is a safe, reliable treatment for acid reflux symptoms,” Dr. Yenchar said. “My experience and enjoyment in caring for reflux patients strengthens my commitment to provide acid reflux care for southeastern Ohio.”
Dr. Yenchar is the third physician in Ohio to reach such a milestone, and one of only a few providers in Ohio who performs this revolutionary procedure.
“LINX® has been a fantastic addition to the treatment of acid reflux,” said Tonya Mundy, Heartburn Center nurse coordinator. “We are excited to provide such a revolutionary treatment right here at Fairfield Medical Center. Patients benefit from a quick recovery and resolution of their acid reflux symptoms. There is typically no need for medication after surgery with limited dietary restrictions.”
Congratulations to the entire Heartburn Center team on this accomplishment! The Fairfield Medical Heartburn Center offers state-of-the-art diagnostics and individualized treatment plans, which improve outcomes and relief of acid reflux symptoms.
